15 Aug marks India 71st Independence Day. Trustees, members, teachers and staff of Vanitha Sadana joined the school children and celebrated the occasion yesterday with joy and fervour. Sri B.R. Mukund, Secretary, Lion Club, Mysore and Retd Lt. col. Rajendra C.V. were the invited guests.The function started at 0830 hrs with unfurling of Indian Flag by the guests which was followed by singing of patriotic songs by the children and teachers. Children then did the march past in tune with the band set team. Children then displayed special drill (lazim) which was this year star attraction. The guests made inspiring speeches highlighting significance of Independence Day for the children in particular. Sri Seetharam, an old student of the school spoke about our National Anthem, its meaning including the stanzas which were originally part of the song but left out later. Although previous day rain dampend the venue, it could not dampen the high spirits of the participants. The function end
