SCIENCE WORK SHOP AT SADANA UNDER SPONSOR A CHILD

The Academy Trust (tAcT), Bangalore an off shoot of Indian Science Academy conducted a science work shop on 4 Aug 2018 at Sadana for High School children. Nearly 150 students including children from nearby schools attended the programme. The topic was Wild Life in Karnataka in general, focusing more on Mysore and surrounding places. Prof. Mewa Singh, P.hd, Distinguished Professor for Life, Mysore Universityand Mr. K. Manu of Mysore Amateur Naturalists gave their presentations. Mr. Shubhankar Biswas, Executive Secretary, tAcT coordinated the whole programme. Mr. Mewa Singh spoke on Elephants and Monkeys in Karnataka drawing the children's attention to the animals habitats, behaviour, eating habits, dwindling numbers etc. Sri Manu spoke on Birds in Karnataka and their different characteristics including migration. A fine documentary on Birds was shown. The show was followed by q&a session. The programme was an eye opener for the curious children who seemed to enjoy every bit of the show.
